Canon Ef 50mm f/1.8 lens question?
Sorry, I’m a newbie
Having this lens means that you can only focus and not zoom in or out right? Does it have auto focus with a Canon Rebel?
There is no zoom on this lens. It is what is known as a prime lens. Focus only.
Generally the quality of image from a prime will outweigh that of a zoom, but it does matter on how much you spend.
Perhaps consider hunting down the Canon Ef 35mm f2.0, It’s a superb little lens for very little money and has far better (at least in my experience) image quality than the 50mm f/1.8, plus it’s that little bit wider, which is especially useful if you’re using it on a non full frame camera.
EF should work on your rebel, I can’t see any reason why it wouldn’t.
