Tuesday, June 7th, 2011

How typically does a photograher get that enquiry or electronic mail from a prospective couple that simply asks for a quote before anything ?

It’s not the ideal way to begin a relationship between photographer and couple. The keyword here is ‘relationship’. But surely if the wedding photographer is offering a service then it’s fair to basically just inquire how much? The solution is possibly a little more complex than does it fit my price range.

How many times have you looked at someone else’s wedding photographs and thought though technically great, they come across as uninteresting, lifeless, repetitive and flat? what do you think is missing ? How could they have been much better?

Wedding photographers think themselves to be very experienced and highly creative people. The vast majority are . What they in the end develop is not just a unique record of your day but a frozen second in time that also represents the clients in a way that they see themselves and their wedding . This incorporates the highlights, the type of photographic work , structure and the feel of the post processing. To really make the photographs stand out, the photographer has to seize a large spectrum of emotions during the shot . The love shown , tender moments , endearment from the wedding party , tears of pleasure, nervous anticipation, tingling excitement, the sense of occasion and the rapturous sometimes riotous celebration! Achieving this isn’t down to good fortune. A big part of achieving the right outcome for many to comes down to relationship you build with the wedding photographer .

So the initial thing the couple should do (assuming they’ve already reviewed and enjoyed the wedding photographers online portfolio and received a good feeling from the testimonials) is arrange a meeting. That 1st meeting is key. If the chemistry is right and the couple are encouraged with confidence and belief then this is will open the door to some wonderful photography .

Get a really feel for the way the wedding photographer works. Professionalism is not enough. The wedding photographers approach, mannerisms and even their sense of wit are critical. Ask can you work with them? Are they going to offer you what you require and are you ready to operate closely with them and pay attention to their suggestions in order to realize this?

Creative folks need to have that openness and willingness to work together if they’re expected to fulfil the requirements of the wedding party and develop something unique and timeless. It’s what gets the creative juices stimulated . They are not suppliers in the same sense as the company who provides the printed wedding invitations are.

Off course the Wedding Photographer should always pay attention meticulously to the couple and offer what they’re searching for, but if the couple wants that ‘look and feel’ that the photographer is offering, then a fun filled, open and calm working relationship with the wedding photographer is what’s going to make that happen. At the end of the day wedding photographers are event photographer‘s detailing the days events in style!
